Household Tips – Removal of Tile’s Stain
Your floor and wall tiles over time will be found some stubborn stain traps along the tile’s gap.
Commonly, the tile grout is filled with colour group cement or using portland cement to sealed up to prevent seepage of water. Most of stain are formed in toilet or wet area when there are alot of washing and stain generated over the period. Following are the some tips for regular maintenance and fixing method.

General Cleaning with water
Regular cleaning, sweeping or vacuuming of the floor tiles are to ensure the cleanliness and prevent accumulate to dirt on the gaps.
If there is missing grout along the tile’s gap, you may get the similar colour grout from the hardware shop near you and mixed with water to grout back.
If you are washing the floor, brush can used to remove the stain the gaps.
2. Tile Grout Cleaner
For the tile grouted which has been stained and turning to dark colour, something the normal washing or brushing may not do the good job. You may try to use the soap scum to act as a cleaner agent.
- 1/2 cup baking soda
- 1/3 cup ammonia
- 1/4 cup white vinegar
- 7 cups water
Mixed all the ingredient above and shake well in the bottle. You can use spray the liquid to the grouts or apply it with towel or cloth. Wait for 15 to 30 min and wipe it with dry cloth.
3. Used Tile Grout ( Rejuvenation Grout)
If your existing tile is non-flat tile, with round edge of porcelain tile, you may apply an additional rejuvenation grout over the existing. It will immediately to cover up existing dirty grout colour.
Select the rejuvenation grout with mould and bacteria-resistance. In some product, you may have some colour to choose that match your existing tile colour.
Do take note not to apply the tiles that with highly textured or porous in type. The existing tiles must be glossy and smooth type.
- Preparation, clear the existing residuals grout with tile sharper.
- You need a firm but flexible grout float or squeegee, a large tiler’s sponge and bucket of clean water.
- Plan and get ready of 1 m2 area to be applied one at a time.
- Start from the corners and out from there.
- After application, approximate 5 to 10 mins, clean off the excess grout and evenly shape the grout joints by a damp sponge.
- Avoid applying excessive force or repeatedly wiping as this may remove the grout from the joint.
